Plaintiff, a 36-year-old tile and marble worker was injured because the plumbing contractor violated worksite safety policies by leaving the capped stub of a future water line under air pressure over the weekend with no warnings posted and no notice given to either the general contractor or other subcontractors on site. Plaintiff was in the process of fitting a piece of marble tile over the stub and cap when the cap blew off and exploded into his face and right eye.  Defendants suggested that the presence of a nearby pressure gauge should have provided a warning to the plaintiff and his co-workers and that they warned them that they were going to leave this stub under pressure and without warnings over the weekend.
